Report: 30-year-old’s comments convey further uncertainty over Tottenham future

Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern will be expecting a number of additions to be made to their side this summer as they look to compete across all competitions.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen to make a couple of signings as he looks to strengthen his side, yet it is believed he will need to lose a couple of his stars if he is to have the financial resources to compete with their Premier League rivals.

One man that has been linked with a possible move away from the North London club is Mousa Dembele, and according to reports, he has spoken about the possibility of moving on in the future, in which he has neither confirmed nor denied that he will be staying at the club this summer.

He told Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Niews: ‘I won’t say that I’m leaving Spurs right now. Or that I’m staying.

‘If I leave, I won’t join another English club. Spurs is my team.’

And while some of our resident Spurs fans may be happy that he at least won’t be moving to another Premier League team, the fact that Dembele is refusing to commit to Pochettino’s side is of great concern to those Tottenham fans lining up at the bar.

Landlord’s Verdict: The Tottenham fans in the Tavern will want the Belgium international to sign a new deal to remain at White Hart Lane until he decides to retire – however, there has been growing speculation about his future as he has refused to commit his future to Spurs, with just one year left on his current deal.

Because of his reluctance to sign a new contract, the locals in the bar could be ready to see him leave this summer as Tottenham will want to ensure they get a transfer fee for him, rather than let him walk for free.
