Report outlines Tottenham’s plan to strike key agreement

Tottenham supporters have been in high spirits in the Transfer Tavern in the last few days after seeing their side ease into the last eight of the FA Cup courtesy of a 6-1 hammering of League One strugglers Rochdale in a fifth round replay on Wednesday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men could only muster a 2-2 draw at Spotland in the initial tie to once again be taking to a replay by lower league opposition, what with League Two outfit Newport County doing the same in the previous round. Yet Spurs still managed to get the job done as a hat-trick from Fernando Llorente alongside a brace from Son Heung-min as well as a late Kyle Walker-Peters strike sealed an emphatic success for the North London side, thus earning them a trip to Swansea City in the quarter-finals later this month.

Thus, there have been many happy Tottenham fans in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are likely to be intrigued by a recent report from The London Evening Standard, which suggests that a new deal is in the offing for forward Son given his impressive efforts for the club this term.

The 25-year-old made the move to the North London club back in 2015 and has since proven his worth to manager Pochettino with 42 goals and 24 assists in just 127 appearances for the side, 13 goals and nine assists of which have come this season.

And reports suggest that Spurs are seeking to reward the South Korea international for his fine form with a new contract, what with Son’s current deal signed back when he joined the club in 2015, and running until the summer of 2020.

And given how influential he has been for the club in recent times – only Harry Kane has scored more than him this season – this news is sure to delight our resident Tottenham supporters.

Landlord’s verdict: Son Heung-min is arguably the most underrated player in the Premier League by many supporters up and down the country, although Tottenham fans do indeed rate him, and rate him very highly indeed.

The 25-year-old has scored 13 goals and laid on nine assists for Mauricio Pochettino’s side to sit behind only Harry Kane in the top-scorer’s list, and the South Korea international looks set to be rewarded as reports suggest that the North London club are set to offer him a new contract.

And given how influential and integral he and his goals have been for Spurs this season, it’s a deal which has certainly been earned in news likely to please our resident Tottenham fans.
