While part of the charm for the Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Transfer Tavern is Mauricio Pochettino’s ability to improve his current players, there’s nothing quite like a good rumour.
Or a very bizarre one. Indeed, reports in Turkey claim the club are lining up a strange move to bring a former QPR defender back to London.
According to Fanatik, Spurs are keen on a move for Dusko Tosic of Besiktas, following his good form over in Istanbul. The 32-year-old spent some time on loan at Loftus Road in 2010 and has been enjoying life in Turkey, able to cover both central defence and left-back positions.
That would make him an attractive prospect for many clubs and Pochettino is said to be weighing up an €8m offer for the veteran, roughly a £7.07m fee, though our local Tottenham supporters aren’t overly convinced. With so much defensive cover already, it’s hard to see the club making a move on that front.
At almost 33, it’s difficult to imagine Pochettino aiming to bring him to north London. The Argentine prefers working with younger and more energetic players, so this would be a very strange move.
