Amazingly, Lucas Moura is the last player Tottenham Hotspur signed. The Brazilian swapped Paris for North London almost a year ago now and, after a summer window during the club opted not to sign anyone, it’s unclear as to whether Daniel Levy will loosen the purse strings now we’re into 2019.
However, with Spurs currently in the title race, Levy would be wise to consider just how well some of the club’s previous January signings have done. Indeed, we recently put a video together ranking our top five winter Tottenham additions, asking our readers to vote on who they thought was the best.
As you can see from the results of our poll, Robbie Keane came out on top with an impressive 41% of the vote. The Irishman actually left White Hart Lane little over six months before his return in January 2009 and Harry Redknapp’s decision to bring him back was totally vindicated.
Having not worked out at Liverpool, Keane helped Tottenham out of their slump and eventually qualify for the Champions League, cementing himself as a club legend.
Take note Daniel Levy, the January market can bring some joy…
