Tottenham are surely certain to delve into the January transfer window in order to strengthen their bid to play Champions League football again next season.

Spurs would like to think that their season is going well right now, whilst they currently occupy 3rd place in the Premier League.

With it being the hardest league in the world though, that could all change in an instant with the competition heating up for places in the top four.

To ensure that they best prepare themselves for the uphill battle ahead, Tottenham need to spend wisely in the January transfer window, with a centre-back potentially as one of their main priorities.

Due to the possibility that Toby Alderweireld could leave the club soon, Tottenham should get ahead of that potential problem and recruit Benfica’s Ruben Dias.

Dias, who is valued at £25.2 million on Transfermarkt, is a very talented centre-back made for the Premier League.

He has played a massive part in keeping nine clean-sheets this season for Benfica, during his 23 appearances so far.

At the age of just 21, interest is already growing in Ruben Dias, who is a commanding, tough-tackling defender.

Tottenham could well have a big problem with arguably their two best defenders leaving the club, so the need to spend wisely is essential.

The 6"1 Portuguese international has come on leaps and bounds this year alone, with his talent sure to be utilised at a bigger club sometime soon.

Tottenham would find it likely that they could pay less during January for him because their two centre-backs haven't left yet. Should they do the deal after and Benfica can raise the price significantly, Daniel Levy may not entertain that.
