A number of fans in the Transfer Tavern have been jumping to criticise Mauricio Pochettino’s comments made about England midfielder, Dele Alli. The Argentine claimed that Alli is the best player in his age bracket in the world. Whilst speaking to Sky Sports the Spurs manager claimed that there is no one better than the Tottenham man in his age bracket, saying that people also forget that Alli is so young.
Pochettino is certainly not wrong about the fact that Dele Alli is a tremendous player. The youngster has been one of the first names on the Spurs team sheet despite his supposed poor form this year. The pressure ramped upon the ex-Milton Keynes man has been massive, as in the absence of Harry Kane it’s been Alli that the fans have called upon to come up with goals and assists to get the Lilywhites through tough matches.
Alli is currently with the England team and is set to feature alongside teammates Eric Dier and Danny Rose as the Three Lions face The Netherlands and Italy in next week international friendlies. However, on his return from international duty, he faces a huge task in helping Spurs try to overcome Antonio Conte’s Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Harry Kane is set to miss the game through injury meaning the 21-year-old will need to step to help the North London club overcome their rivals.

Now add the appearances to show how much game time each has had as some play for bigger teams and may not have got into the 1st XI as early as him or are younger but in essence he is not the best player on that list. No even 2nd or 3rd
