Spurs fans just don’t know what to think right now, with Transfer Tavern regulars decked out in the club’s famous white and blue quieter than normal amid stories about Mauricio Pochettino’s future.
The Argentine has been dubbed a candidate to replace Luis Enrique at Barcelona at the end of the season when the Spaniard steps down, and with La Liga insider Guillem Balague having revealed that the Catalans are “fans” of the tactician, the signs don’t look overly encouraging.
And Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport have waded into the action, claiming that Roma coach Luciano Spalletti is an option for the Londoners.
The famous pink paper speculate that the 57-year-old is being considered by the White Hart Lane club before talking about the Stadio Olimpico chief’s own desires to manage in England, somewhat stoking the fire.
They also allege that Tottenham’s facilities and ambitious plans are tempting for Spalletti, who is not the only Serie A coach to have been aligned with the club after reports claimed Juventus’ Massimiliano ‘Max’ Allegri is a post-‘Poch’ candidate.
