‘Sign him for life!’ – Tottenham fans react to reported talks with £31.5m-rated player

Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern are absolutely buzzing with a story in the Standard that Korean winger, Heung-Min Son is set to be offered a new contract with Mauricio Pochettino’s impressive Spurs side. The ex-Bayer Leverkusen man joined Spurs back in summer 2015 and has been a key figure in his clubs recent rise over the last few seasons.

Heung-Min Son, or Sonny as he’s known so affectionately by the Tottenham faithful, joined the Lillywhites for a £27 million fee after impressing in Germany for both Hamburg and the Bayer Leverkusen. However, since joining the North Londoners, Son’s (rated at £31.5m by Transfermarkt) impressive wing-play has made him one of the most feared players in the Premier League, scoring 13 goals in his 40 appearances this season alone for Tottenham.

The 25-year-old also adds some much-needed versatility to the Tottenham side, his ability to transition between either wings, attacking midfield and as a forward making him a potent threat in Pochettino’s squad alongside Spurs’ other big names, Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen.

In Son’s 89 Premier League games for Spurs, he’s found the net a total of 26 times, making him a vital part of the Tottenham machine. Even without his goals though, his immense work rate and willingness to get his hands dirty tracking back to defend have quickly made him a fan favourite and White Hart Lane and Wembley.
