We at the Football Transfer Tavern feel that Wesley Sneijder is one of our own as we have talked about him so much, and The Mirror report that the player could be set to join Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.
The Dutchman has long been rumoured to leave current club Inter Milan over the dispute surrounding his current contract and as the window draws ever nearer the player looks set to have several clubs around Europe courting him.
The latest to be linked to the Dutch international is North London club Spurs, who at one time would have needed to pay £25 million to secure the player’s services, yet now could get him for around £10 million. Inter Milan are desperate to offload the player who has not played a competitive game since September and is seen as far too expensive to sit on the bench.
The midfielder’s wife recently claimed the couple would be moving this January and with the player a fan of the Premier League and already fluent in English it could well be a happy Christmas for Andre Villas-Boas should the club pull of a massive coup and land the 28-year-old. AVB has been handed a huge boost given that Sneijder looks set to refuse a move to Manchester United on the grounds that he does not get on with fellow Dutchman Robin van Persie.
