Southampton boss convinced wantaway midfielder is now settled

Morgan SchneiderlinSouthampton fans feel reassured in the Football Transfer Tavern after their midfielder insists he is pleased he didn’t depart with the club to follow his former manager.

According to the Daily Mail, Southampton boss, Ronald Koeman, believes Morgan Schneiderlin is happy he stayed at Southampton and didn’t join Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham.

All summer the Tavern heard numerous rumours linking the 24-year-old with a move to Spurs in a deal worth around £12m.

Pochettino was unable to capitalize on Southampton’s unstable situation during the summer and Koeman did well to keep hold of his man, after Schneiderlin publicly tried forcing the move, after voicing his unhappiness on twitter.

He posted: “6 years of an amazing journey #saintsfc DESTROYED in 1 hour.”

But Koeman believes after getting off to a bad start, Schneiderlin is now in a good place and believes he made the right decision to stay.

“Maybe he had some doubts about the club’s ambition but if you ask Morgan now about our ambition, it is what he would like to see.

“He is a key player. He scores, he defends, he attacks and with that kind of player you like to do everything to keep him in the team,” said Koeman.
