I always enjoy a football club that views the quality of their chairs as a greater priority than having world class footballers.
And that is exactly what Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala have done.
Anzhi held the world’s most expensive boot-sale in the summer and saw a whole host of top names leave (I found it hard to convince the Chelsea customers that Samuel Eto’o was one of those ‘top names’).
Despite the financial troubles at the Russian outfit they’ve, rather amusingly, refused to compromise on comfort for the buttocks as Tottenham Hotspur found out in their recent Europa League game.
Now, I’m not saying the Football Transfer Tavern barstools are like floating on clouds, actually, they could probably do with replacing but the image that I’ve just been shown by a regular, of the Anzhi changing rooms seats, is nothing short of five-star quality.
But the Europa League is a far cry from the Champions League (a few Arsenal fans let out a girlish giggle) and for every Anzhi Makhachkala there is a FC Sheriff…
