Footage has emerged on social media of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko doing some gym work as he steps up his recovery from injury.
The French international picked up an injury in Spurs’ New Year’s Day fixture against Southampton and seven days later he underwent surgery on the medial collateral ligament in his right knee (tottenhamhotspur.com). According to the club, the ex-Newcastle United man is unlikely to be back in full training until early April, meaning he will miss the majority of the remainder of the campaign.
However, it is certainly encouraging to see the 30-year-old on the road to recovery. The video shows him in the gym doing some light movement and softly kicking a ball with his right foot (@thespursweb).
Sissoko had been a regular under both Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho this season, starting in 19 of their opening 21 matches of the Premier League campaign (Transfermarkt). Several Spurs fans have been reacting to the footage of Sissoko, with most absolutely delighted to see the midfielder on the mend. Meanwhile, a couple of others were quick to make a joke about the light training, with one quipping that he had “never seen him kick a ball that straight before“, while another has begged for him not to emulate his injury-plagued team-mate Victor Wanyama.
