Spurs handed big boost despite initial concern

Following an unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign, the return of the Champions League sees the fixtures come thick and fast for the Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern.

So, as our north London locals calm their nerves before tonight’s game with Bayer Leverkusen, they’ve been handed a big boost after reports from Sky Sports.

They’ve revealed key defender Toby Alderweireld isn’t likely to be out long, despite being stretchered off against West Bromwich Albion.

The Belgian, alongside compatriot Jan Vertonghen, is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the league and is undoubtedly a major part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.

Though the likes of Eric Dier and the emerging Cameron Carter-Vickers are able to be deployed in the role, the former Atletico Madrid man is utterly crucial.

He’ll miss the game this evening, though could hand those on Hotspur Way a major boost and return in time for the weekend’s game away at Bournemouth.

“We believe it is not a big issue”, said the Argentine coach.

“Now we have to wait for the result of the scan, which he took this afternoon. Everyone else is okay. We are only missing Harry Kane.”
