Spurs in shock €5m Bundesliga battle for Iceland Euro 2016 hero, player wants move

Iceland’s sensational win against England at EURO 2016 has sent shockwaves through European football, nowhere more so than the Transfer Tavern.

Punters and staff alike have been harmonious in their lamenting the state of English football, though few have praised the heroics of the Icelandic side.

Well, their giant killing clearly hasn’t gone unnoticed at White Hart Lane.

According to the Guardian, Spurs were so impressed by the performance of Ragnar Sigurdsson in Nice on Monday evening, that they are eager to lure the defender to North London.

Currently under contract with Russian outfit Krasnodar, the formidable 30-year old is also understood to be of interest to Bundesliga sides Schalke and Wolfsburg.

However, the central defender is believed to favour a move to the Premier League at this stage in his career, and is thought to be valued at around €5m.

Though Spurs’ backline was one of their strong points last term, the club’s venture back into the Champions League will put an extra strain on the squad.

Did the Icelandic hero do enough to convince you he’s good enough for the Premier League, Spurs fans?
