Spurs priced out of defender deal, could construct loan deal

With Jan Vertonghen out injured, the Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern have been waxing lyrical over their defensive options next season, with many of them expecting new names to make their way to North London. 

However, perhaps indicative of his career at White Hart Lane, they seem to have forgotten about a certain Federico Fazio.

The Argentine has spent the last season on loan with Sevilla and was touted as a potential La Liga target after a miserable spell in North London.

According to Sport (via Sport Witness) Espanyol are said to be keen on the 29-year old, though the asking price from Daniel Levy and top brass at the club is believed to be far too high.

However, the Barcelona based outfit could construct a loan deal for the central defender, who is surely surplus to requirements under Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs these days.
