Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking ahead to a summer transfer window in which they could boast Premier League champions status.
Admittedly, that does seem like a bit of a push for the Lilywhites, currently four points behind table-toppers Chelsea with four games to go, but they will almost certainly have the pulling power of Champions League football at a bare minimum come the summer.
And according to The Telegraph, there are already three English players on Mauricio Pochettino’s radar in the form of Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, Everton playmaker Ross Barkley and Burnley defender Michael Keane.
Keane is the latest addition to Pochettino’s hit list, because the Spurs boss is reportedly eager to bring in a centre-back who can operate in a back four and a back three – the 24-year-old impressed upon his England debut in a three-man backline against Germany last month.
However, although the £30million-rated defender is expected to leave Turf Moor this summer, Spurs will have to fend off rivalled interest in his services from Everton and Liverpool. The Reds could also offer Keane Champions League football depending on where they finish this season, but it may prove beyond the seventh-placed Toffees with just a handful of games remaining.
