As much as recent results may have you believe, Tottenham Hotspur have had a fantastic season under the stewardship of Mauricio Pochettino.

They may have hit a slight bit of a blip over the past few weeks, but there’s little doubting our Spurs supporting locals in the Transfer Tavern have had an awful lot to raise their glasses to.

Now, following reports emanating of Spain, there could yet be another huge reason in order to do so.

According to Marca, the North London giants have tabled an offer to Atletico Madrid sensation Saul Niguez. The Spaniard has long been linked with a move to Manchester United and has seen his stock sky rocket in recent weeks following a wonderful goal against Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-final.

The 21-year old is widely regarded as one of the most promising emerging talents in European football after establishing himself under Diego Simeone in the Spanish capital.

It is claimed Spurs have offered the versatile midfielder, whose also demonstrated quite the ability to play in defence, a whopping €6m per year for five years.

While they also claim Los Rojiblancos are doing all they can to keep the prodigious talent at the Vincente Calderon, they describe the offer from White Hart Lane as the ‘most important’.

He seems a natural fit in the philosophy developed offer the past two years from the Argentine coach, possessing both vast quantities of technical ability and work rate.
