Isco’s immediate future has been a recurring theme of debate in the Transfer Tavern this week and it’s popped up in conversation once again today following the latest revelations regarding the Real Madrid star.
The Spain international is well thought of at the Bernabeu but he’s failed to nail down a role in the starting XI since arriving from Malaga in 2013 – where he’d won Europe’s prestigious Golden Boy award.
Indeed, the attacking midfielder has completed a full ninety minutes just three times this season, whilst he’s started only eleven of Real Madrid’s 21 La Liga fixtures thus far.
Earlier this week, Marca gave an update on Isco’s future, suggesting he’s likely to leave this summer and discussing potential destinations, with the Premier League featuring prominently.
Whilst the Spanish publication put Manchester City at the front of the pack, Marca also revealed that Chelsea have already made contact with a ‘Valencian lawyer’ who works as the 24-year-old’s intermediary.
The British media, on the other hand, have a slightly different take, with Mirror Football putting Spurs in the frame to ‘move for’ Isco during the next transfer window.
Isco’s contract is due to expire in summer 2018, so a departure at the end of the season seems likely. But whether Spurs can fend off apparent interest from Chelsea and Manchester City remains to be seen.
