We love a good tug of love here in the Football Transfer Tavern and it seems that Tottenham Hotspur target Leandro Damiao is set to give us exactly that according to the Daily Star.
The Brazilian international has been on the receiving end of interest from Spurs for the last few transfer windows and add to that the fact that Andre Villas-Boas is a huge fan of the player and it seemed that a move to the London club would be a certainty – at some point.
Now however it has been claimed that the player is set to snub the Premier League in favour of a move to his preferred destination – Italy.
The 23-year-old’s agent Vinicius Prates noted that: “The Italian championship is a goal for Damiao,” and further talked about the player’s future by claiming that: “He is focused on succeeding in Brazil but anything can happen in June, although we have no agreement with European teams.”
Of course a host of clubs are after the highly rated player but Juventus are thought to be the front runners to secure his signature along with high flying Napoli who are in the hunt for a top class player to replace the fantastic and soon to be departed Edinson Cavani with many punters in the tavern thinking that this is the summer that the top class Uruguayan finally flees the Stadio San Paolo.
