Spurs turn to prolific Champions League forward as interest wanes in West Ham target

Breel Embolod

As Spurs gear up for just their second venture into the Champions League, some of the punters in the Transfer Tavern have been preparing for what is likely to be a busy summer of activity.

There’s little doubt the North London outfit are in a rather unique position this summer. They are in desperate need of reinforcements, though most of their stars are established first-team players who simply cannot be dropped.

Particularly a certain Harry Kane, who is in desperate need of high quality backups, though is simply too good to be dropped on current form.

With that in mind, the Daily Telegraph have claimed that the club are ready to make Swiss forward Breel Embolo their top target this summer.

Though Marseille marksman Michy Batshuayi has been strongly linked with White Hart Lane for a number of months, the club cannot offer him guaranteed first-team football.

Embolo has emerged as a priority after impressing for Basel in his homeland, after scoring 30 goals in 86 games and breaking into the national side ahead of Euro 2016.

Though Spurs will face competition for the 19-year old, manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly keen on bringing in a player who can both cover and support Kane next season.

Do Spurs need to sign more than one striker this season?
