Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern could be saying goodbye to one of their left-backs in the summer as Mauricio Pochettino has never been fully able to accept an apology from Danny Rose.
The defender had conducted an interview with The Sun seven months ago, without consent from the club, and stated that he would be playing up north in the future and that he wanted to win trophies.
It is clear that he has not gotten back into the good books of Pochettino, as since the start of the Premier League, he has only made six starts and has remained an unused substitute in a number of big clashes, including their Champions League tie with Juventus.
Despite not getting any first-team action with Spurs, Rose was still named in Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad for the upcoming friendlies, although his place at the World Cup finals is far from guaranteed.
He has been linked in the past with a move to Manchester United, who themselves are having a manager and left-back relationship issues, with Jose Mourinho publicly critical of Luke Shaw’s performances.
A move between the two clubs for both defenders could be what is best for all parties concerned, as the Daily Mail suggests. Their report claims the player’s relationship with his boss has been strained for a while and there has even been some suggestion that he never forgave Rose for the interview.
Tottenham fans in the Tavern would not be too concerned with the possibility of Rose leaving the club at the end of the season, having played a fairly solid campaign without him. A swap for Shaw could prove to be a good bit of business, especially considering the age difference between the two.
