Sunderland and Stoke City join bitter rivals Spurs and West Ham in bid to land playmaker coup

Roberto Pereyramkl

The rivalry between the Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United fans, particularly after a few Transfer Tavern pints, really needs no stoking.

The capital counterparts are bitter rivals and while their upwardly mobile transitions have come to the delight of the Premier League as a whole, they have certainly made things more interesting.

For now, both clubs are often linked with the same calibre of players ahead of what promises to be a major summer of activity in the Premier League.

They, along with Sunderland and Stoke City, are believed to be entrenched in a fierce battle to land Juventus midfielder Roberto Pereyra this summer.

According to the Sun, the 25-year old looks set to leave the Italian giants after failing to truly impose himself on first-team football since making his loan move from Udinese a more permanent affair in 2015.

While his progress has stalled somewhat, there’s little doubting the midfielder remains one of the most exciting playmakers in Italy when in full flow and would be a wonderful addition to most Premier League squads.

Can West Ham finish above Spurs next season?
