Talks begin in bad news for Tottenham Hotspur as summer window takes sour turn

It’s turning out to be a difficult summer for the Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern.

With those from Hotspur Way yet to bring anyone in over the course of the summer, Danny Rose’s recent interview has sparked concern amongst our local Lillywhites, who are hoping to the high heavens they don’t see their team implode.

Indeed, as if things couldn’t get any worse right now, reports from Italy only further the worries for our north London locals. According to Tutto Mercato WebBarcelona are keen on Spurs star Christian Eriksen this summer, as they look to reinvest the cash received for Neymar.

The Danish international is believed to be of interest to the Blaugrana, who are claimed within this report to have started talks over a potential deal. A bid of at least €65m (roughly £59m) is said to be the minimum if the La Liga giants are going to formalise their reported interest in the former Ajax.

Really the only player purchased with the Gareth Bale money to have improved Tottenham, the 25-year-old may not have always convinced our drinkers, though they’d hate to see him go.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Losing Eriksen would be gutting for Tottenham ahead of the new campaign. Crucial to their wonderfully varied frontline, the former Ajax man would be a huge miss now that he’s developing into the player we all know he can be.
