This £4.5m-rated Man United target would be the perfect replacement for Danny Rose at Tottenham

Tottenham supporters have been in high spirits in the Transfer Tavern in the last few weeks after seeing their team reach the last four of the FA Cup for the second consecutive season courtesy of a 3-0 victory over Swansea City in the quarter-finals.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men went into their encounter with the Swans back on March 17 having edged past AFC Wimbledon, Newport County, and Rochdale in the preceding rounds, with the North London club needing replays to see off the latter two EFL sides. However, things were much easier for Spurs at the Liberty Stadium as a brace from Christian Eriksen alongside Erik Lamela’s second goal of the campaign secured a routine success for Pochettino’s side, thus setting up a meeting with Manchester United in the semi-final next month.

As such, there have been many delighted Tottenham fans in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are sincerely hoping that their team can go on and win the FA Cup this season, and thus end a decade-long wait for silverware.

In the meantime though, there has been plenty for our resident Spurs supporters to get their teeth into, not least recent reports linking Celtic sensation Kieran Tierney with a move to Manchester United.

But with Danny Rose potentially on his way out of Tottenham this summer, possibly to United no less, £4.5 million-rated Tierney (as per Transfermarkt) could well be the perfect replacement for the England international at the North London club.

Ultimately, Rose’s future at Spurs has been subject of speculation ever since he did an interview with The Sun last summer, in which he suggested that he only had ‘one big contract’ left in his career, at the same time seeming to criticise Tottenham’s wage structure and transfer policy.

And with the left back also struggling to reclaim his spot in Pochettino’s starting eleven ahead of Ben Davies, the 27-year-old could well be on his way out of Spurs this summer.

And Tierney would be the perfect replacement.

The 20-year-old has been in sensational form for Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic in the last few years ever since making his senior debut back in 2015, from which he has since gone on to play 123 times for the Bhoys, scoring seven goals and laying on 29 assists in the process.

And with three goals and six assists already for the Scottish champions-elect this term, thus well on his way to his best return in his career to date, the Scotland international is going from strength to strength, and clearly looks destined for big things in the coming years.

Moreover, Tierney has proven his capabilities on the European stage for Celtic in recent times, most notably against Manchester City in the 3-3 draw at Parkhead last season, to further underline his meteoric rise, and his unwavering ability to get up and down the flanks to help out both offensively and defensively must be of interest to Pochettino.

Be it as a natural left back or as a left wing back, the Celtic man has already proven to be adept at both, and at the tender age of 20, he’s only likely to get better under Pochettino such has been the Argentine’s track record of developing and improving young talent in recent years.

Ultimately, it looks as though Rose will leave Spurs sooner rather than later, so a longer term solution will need to be eyed by the club’s hierarchy. And Tierney ticks all the boxes.

Thus, the United target would without doubt be the perfect replacement for England international Rose at Tottenham.
