Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a fine rise under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino and things should only improve further, with a new home for the North London side now just months away.
On the field, Spurs have remained more competitive than they have ever been in the Premier League era and pushed Leicester City for the title last season, before falling to third place on the final day of the season, and are challenging once again this term.
Whilst Pochettino’s side doesn’t possess the household names and world superstars that the likes of their top-six rivals do, the Spurs squad is on the rise and many of the players within their ranks could be massive in the coming years.
Spurs cannot afford to rest on their laurels though and need to keep fighting, as the battle for Champions League football is fiercer than ever and the Lilywhites still need a miracle if they are to overhaul Chelsea from their perch.
Looking at their squad, there isn’t any areas that need massive improvements but the addition of Virgil Van Dijk to their defensive line would take Spurs to the next level.
Pochettino’s side have looked their best this season when playing with a three-back formation, which saw them end Chelsea’s remarkable winning run a week ago, but it’s not Eric Dier’s natural position and options are limited.
Kevin Wimmer is capable but he doesn’t stand out as a defender that strikes fear into opposing attacks but Van Dijk would do exactly that, creating a phenomenal partnership with Spurs’ Belgian duo Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.
Many of Spurs’ top-six rivals are linked with interest in Van Dijk and securing a move would be difficult but it would be a real statement of intent from Spurs, and the Dutch defender’s arrival would certainly take Pochettino’s men to the next level.Like what the TT have on offer?
