Tottenham supporters in the Transfer Tavern are very much looking forward to the 2018/19 Premier League season, what with their team seeking to build upon their third place finish last time round.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men deserve enormous credit for securing a third successive top four finish in the English top-flight last term, having finished third back in 2016, second in 2017, and then of course third last time round. However, a title challenge still seems a way off given the North Londoners ended up a hefty 23 points adrift of champions Manchester City, although some big additions this summer could see Spurs bridge that gap this time round.
As such, there are many excited and expectant Tottenham fans in the Tavern at present, several of whom are likely to be intrigued by recent reports suggesting that Jack Grealish does indeed want to leave Aston Villa this summer.
Thus, the time to act is now for Pochettino’s Spurs, with the door certainly left open for the North London outfit to seal a deal for the £4.5 million-rated talent (as per Transfermarkt).
Ultimately, 22-year-old Grealish enjoyed one of the best seasons of his young career to date last term in helping Steve Bruce’s Villa reach the Championship play-off final, with the attacker bagging three goals and laying on six assists en route to a fourth place finish.

And although Grealish was unable to inspire the Midlands giants to victory over Fulham in the showpiece at Wembley, it wasn’t through the lack of trying, with it arguable that the Englishman was the best player on the pitch for Villa in the 1-0 defeat.
Nonetheless, that performance alongside several impressive ones over the course of the campaign underlines a growing maturity in Grealish that hadn’t really been seen in his career to date, to perhaps suggest that he is ready to return to the top-flight and prove his worth.
And with Pochettino likely to give the 22-year-old the opportunity in the first team at Tottenham, he could seriously flourish by moving to the North London club, with Dele Alli’s meteoric rise from League One to top Premier League star in particular sure to be of interest to the Villa ace.
And while some of our resident Spurs fans won’t see a move for Grealish as the most ambitious and exciting of signings, it’s certainly one that will benefit the club in the long term, and there’s no reason why it can’t in the short term as well given how quickly it took Alli to adapt to the top-flight.
Thus, with Grealish reportedly ready to leave Villa, the door is open for Pochettino’s side to seal a deal for the 22-year-old.
