Tottenham secured a dramatic win against Fulham at the weekend after struggling in Harry Kane’s absence.

The star forward was ruled out of action until March after limping off during the recent defeat against Manchester United. Mauricio Pochettino gave Fernando Llorente the chance to impress in the starting eleven and the Spaniard got off the worst possible start – scoring a first-half own goal. Dele Alli equalised before leaving the field with an injury before Harry Winks sealed the points in injury time.

Victory against the Cottagers was the first time Spurs had won in the Premier League without Kane or Heung-Min Son in the side since March 2014. Pochettino has been adamant that Spurs won’t enter the transfer market in the England international’s absence but Llorente’s struggles could force him into action. Targeting a new forward could be key to Tottenham securing a top-four finish in May.

One man they should pursue is Frankfurt forward – Luka Jovic. Valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, the Serb is currently on loan at the Bundesliga side from Benfica and has been in red-hot form in Germany. Jovic is currently one of the top scorers in Europe’s top five leagues after netting an incredible 18 goals already in all competitions.

The 21-year-old is a powerful forward who would slot seamlessly into Pochettino’s current system. His potential is massive and the Argentine has a reputation for bringing the best of young players – Jovic could be the next player to flourish under his leadership. His expert finishing ability would help replace Kane’s vital goals in the coming months in order to guarantee Champions League football at their new stadium next season.

He would cost a pretty penny but the benefits of this transfer would be massive for the Lilywhites.
