Tottenham boss rages with club’s board, feels lack of support over star midfielders

It was a sour end of season for the Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern as they watched their side concede second place to arch rivals Arsenal.

While there has been so much to shout about at White Hart Lane this season, the nightmare end to the campaign after the title slipped away has been a frustration.

Not just for the fans it seems, it appears tempers are boiling all over the club.

According to the Times, manager Mauricio Pochettino is angry at the Spurs board for the perceived lack of support they gave him in the wake of their draw at Chelsea that lost them the title.

It was an ill-tempered affair that saw both clubs charged with failing to control their players and influential midfielder Mousa Dembele banned for six games after appearing to gouge Diego Costa’s eye.

The fixture came a week after a draw with West Bromwich Albion, in which Dele Alli was banned for five games himself for violent conduct.

Two of the club’s most influential midfielders, the pair were a huge miss as the club lost to Southampton and Newcastle in the closing stages of the season, which allowed arch rivals Arsenal to pip them to second place.

Pochettino is believed to be furious after feeling he was not given much support in appealing such bans.

How big a miss were Dembele and Alli in the closing stages of the season?
