Talk of a title tilt is once again a hot topic of debate amongst the Tottenham Hotspur fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern and the idea of seeing Mauricio Pochettino lift the biggest prize in English football come May is no longer that ridiculous.
The Argentine has crafted a thoroughly vibrant side at White Hart Lane, spearheaded by the next generation of England stars such as Harry Kane and Dele Alli, much to the delight our north London locals.
Which is why the Lilywhites frequenting our four walls are so happy to cast their eyes over reports in the Daily Mirror today.
They’ve claimed the club are watching developments at Goodison Park, with Everton midfielder Ross Barkley’s future with the club reportedly under increasing danger. The Toffees themselves are all set to land Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin and have already signed the promising Ademola Lookman this month, deals which could well have an impact on Barkley.
He has previously been linked with a move to Hotspur Way and, despite being widely regarded as one of the Three Lions’ most promising individuals for a few years now, has seen his progress stall somewhat on Merseyside under Ronald Koeman.
The report suggests that while Pochettino is yet to make a move for the 23-year-old, he could do so this summer as the marauding midfielder has just 18 months to run on his deal.
Though a move of this magnitude will surely play out for a while, our locals Spurs fans crowded around the bar are licking their lips at the prospect of his arrival, believing Pochettino is exactly the man to get the best out of him.
