That rumour mill, eh? It sure does throw up some weird ones. Though here in the Transfer Tavern, our punters can’t get enough.
However, perhaps our Spurs supporting locals may feel a tad underwhelmed. French outlet Le 10 Sport has claimed the club are weighing up a shock move for Newcastle United flop Florian Thauvin.
With Champions League football all but certain to be on its way to White Hart Lane, manager Mauricio Pochettino is thought to be on the lookout to draft in reinforcements to aid his dynamic young side.
Currently on loan at Marseille after a nightmare six month stint on Tyneside following a £12m move over the summer, the 23-year old has seen his stock plummet in recent years.
Undoubtedly a gifted winger, his spell with the Toon Army came after a frustrating season in Southern France last year.
Ironically enough, he was afforded the chance to leave following Newcastle’s signing of Andros Townsend from Spurs in January.
Still, Pochettino has worked wonders on Erik Lamela, who struggled to convince in wide areas before emerging as a top talent under the former Southampton coach.
They are not thought to be the only club chasing the France international, with Valencia, Inter Milan and Lazio, all said to be interested.
Could Pochettino get the best out of Thauvin?
