The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are happy to again be in the Champions League next season but they’re determined to get a better team together who are really capable of winning trophies.
Spurs have built a reputation in recent years as a side who put the pressure on but when it comes down to it, they often struggle under pressure. That simply has to stop and they need to address this situation immediately.
If Alderweireld decides to leave this summer, as is being reported, our punters believe that Greek international Kostas Manolas, who is valued at £31.5 million on Transfer Markt, would be a great player to fill the void of the Belgian international.
Manolas has again been an important figure for Roma this season, featuring in 39 appearances throughout the 2017/18 campaign. Tottenham ideally would like to keep Toby Alderweireld but if they have to replace him, they have to be bold and recruit a top player such as Manolas in his place.
Tottenham are now looking forward to their stadium move this summer and with such an important move, they need top players to feature within it. Kostas Manolas would be well known as the player who scored the winner against Barcelona to send the Italian club through to the semi-final of the Champions League but as well as important goals, the Greek man offers a lot more than that.
Manolas is dominant in the air, has a considerable amount of pace for a defender and likes a tackle with the opposition. Tottenham would feel upset about the potential loss of Toby Alderweireld but Manolas is a player who would allow Spurs fans to quickly forget about the Belgian.
Let’s not forget, Roma had a fantastic run in Europe this season, and so Manolas isn’t unproven – he’s truly one of Europe’s best. If Tottenham don’t snap him up, someone else surely will.
