Though there’s still an awful lot to play for this season, there’s little doubt the Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are fearful about the upcoming summer sales, such is the nature of regular interest in their stars.
Despite being one of the biggest clubs in England, our north London locals have constantly watched their side lose their prized assets over the years, with Real Madrid in particular proving rather frustrating on that front. Gareth Bale and Luka Modric have been tempted over to the Spanish capital in years gone by, so reports from the Daily Telegraph have come as rather unwelcome ones indeed.
They claim Los Blancos are once again casting keen eyes over White Hart Lane as they reportedly weigh up a move for Hugo Lloris. One of the elite goalkeepers in Europe, the Frenchman is understood to have emerged as a target should the Champions League winners miss out on Chelsea custodian Thibaut Courtois.
The aforementioned Belgian is believed to be their top target when their transfer embargo ends in a few months, though could prove difficult to prize away. Still, the fact Lloris is under contract until 2022 is a reassuring fact for the north London locals, who are praying he stays to help see the Lilywhites into a new stadium.
