It’s fair to say the Tottenham Hotspur fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern could really do with some cheering up right now, having watched their title hopes all but end following a loss to Liverpool over the weekend.
As popular a figure as Mauricio Pochettino is at White Hart Lane, the Argentine’s credentials in actually winning silverware for the club, so reports emanating out of Germany have at least helped changed the subject for our north London locals.
According to Bild, those from Hotspur Way could well be involved in a transfer deal THIS WEEKEND with a Bundesliga outfit. As our drinkers will remember, Spurs midfielder Nabil Bentaleb made a loan move to Schalke over the course of the summer and that could well be made permanent when he makes his 18th appearance for the Germans.
The original clause is understood to have previously been 20 games before the deal was made, though the 22-year-old’s involvement in African Cup of Nations is believed to have reduced that to 18. All being well, he’s expected to make that imminently and a four-year deal is thought to have been agreed.
