Jose Mourinho believes Dennis Cirkin is ready for first team football next season and this decision would save the club millions, according to Football Insider.
Cirkin was tipped for great things before he suffered an injury at the end of February, which put a halt to Mourinho's plans for the talented youngster. The Tottenham Hotspur academy product is highly regarded by the Spurs boss and his backroom staff, and many are convinced he is a future star-in-waiting. [via Football Insider]
A source close to the situation told reporter Wayne Veysey he is in line to be called up to the senior squad and the English left-back will be competing for a spot in the starting lineup with Ryan Sessegnon, Ben Davies and Japhet Tanganga.
Cynically, coaches have pointed out Cirkin will save Daniel Levy from splashing the cash in the transfer market as he spent £24.3m on Sessegnon last summer. Although the 18-year-old is yet to make an appearance in the famous Lilywhites jersey, he was included in the team sheet for FA Cup matches against Middlesbrough and Southampton.
As expected, many Spurs fans discussed Mourinho's shrewd idea for Cirkin, with one supporter dubbing him "quality" and another adding that the teenager "reminds me of Chilwell" in a nod to the Leicester City defender.
