The Spanish media outlet claims that the defender has caught the eye of a number of potential suitors and Tottenham have thrown their name into the mix. Indeed, football writer Samuel Silva reported that Spurs, Inter Milan and Bayer Leverkusen have reached out to Barcelona over the youngster’s availability as the transfer market approaches.
Given his performances this season, it is hardly surprising the Brazilian has attracted so much attention. After arriving at Real Betis on loan from the Nou Camp, the 21-year-old has made 23 appearances in La Liga for Rubi’s side, scoring three goals, supplying five assists, taking one shot per game, averaging 2.1 tackles and completing 1.7 clearances per game on average (WhoScored).
Jose Mourinho has made it clear that he is looking to bring a new right-back to north London and he is set to hold talks with Serge Aurier after the controversial star broke the lockdown rules again. Moreover, Kyle Walker-Peters is unlikely to be returning to the Lilywhites any time soon following his loan spell at Southampton and Emerson is arguably an upgrade on his English counterpart.
Walker-Peters has been handed a low overall rating of 6.58, whereas the Brazil under-23 international has received a solid statistical rating of 6.84 as per WhoScored. The versatile La Liga player is a potent attacking and defensive threat, although his £16.2m valuation could discourage Daniel Levy from making a bid.
Unsurprisingly, loads of Spurs fans buzzed over the “quality” transfer update, with one supporter tweeting that the “brilliant young player” would make a “useful” addition to Mourinho’s squad in the future.
