Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern were absolutely shocked by manager Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to leave new signing, Lucas Moura, on the bench last night as the club lost 2-1 to Juventus in the Champions League.
Lucas Moura signed for Spurs in the January transfer window but has so far has been limited to appearances in the FA Cup. Although last night, the Spurs fans propping up our bar couldn’t believe it as they watched Juventus’ manager, Massimiliano Allegri change the game with his tactical substitutions whilst in the other dugout, Pochettino only made two changes.
The Argentine brought on Fernando Llorente and Erik Lamela to try and claw back an equaliser and send the game to extra time after Juventus’ took a 2-1 lead. However, with the game entering the final minutes, the Spurs boss failed to bring Lucas Moura on, in an attempt to swing the tie.
After a number of promising displays already, our resident Lilywhites were shocked not to see Lucas enter the fray and will now be dreaming about what could’ve been, you can see what they had to say below:
Still trying to figure out why £26million Lucas Moura wasn’t brought when he was clearly the impact sub did we make 3 changes someone please tell me #thfc

Juventus made 2 subs to change the game. We waited until the 75th min to make our first sub. When they made the subs, Poch should of responded with making his subs and changed his tactics. Lucas Moura not coming on tonight baffles me #THFC

Lucas Moura must wonder why Spurs bought him. Why did Poch not send him on? He must have warmed up for 30 mins. Or was he not a Poch signing which would explain it #THFC

What the hell did we buy Lucas Moura for if we don’t ever play him? #thfc

Sometimes your best just isn’t enough. Well done #Spurs – maybe if nothing else it emphasised the lack of super subs we have! Think Lucas may have made more of an impact. #coys #thfc #facup now please!!!!!! pic.twitter.com/I4unfakyW0
