Tottenham fans on Twitter went ballistic when Hirving Lozano opened the scoring against Inter

Last night saw every single Tottenham fan on the planet become a PSV Eindhoven fan for 90 minutes. All the Lilywhites had to do was match the result of Inter Milan to qualify for the Champions League round of 16 as they travelled to the Camp Nou whilst Inter hosted PSV at the San Siro, and with both games finishing 1-1, it was a glory, glory night for Tottenham Hotspur.

That, though was as much down to the brilliance of PSV as it was of their own side. Mauricio Pochettino owes Mark van Bommel a crate of beers, and when Van Bommel’s star man, Hirving Lozano grabbed the game’s opening goal inside 15 minutes the entire fan base of Tottenham Hotspur went mental. It was a goal that set Inter Milan a massive uphill battle and whilst they managed to grab one back, it just wasn’t enough to see them progress.

Credit where credit is due to PSV. The Dutch minnows turned up the clash with absolutely nothing to play for. The Eredivisie league leaders had picked up just one point from their five games before their trip to the San Siro, a huge contrast to their domestic form which has seen them win 14 out of 15 games. However, they stayed compact, took their goal well and ultimately ensured that any travelling PSV fan who happens to end up in North London will never have to buy their own beer again.

The Lilywhites were in raptures when Lozano bagged the first goal of the match, and won’t forget how big of a favour they owe PSV after tonight.
