Tottenham: Fans slam Eric Dier’s performance in win over Bournemouth

Tottenham made it three wins out of three under Jose Mourinho after defeating Bournemouth 3-2 at home this afternoon.

Just as they did against West Ham last week, Spurs found themselves three goals to the good before conceding twice in the second half to ensure a nervy finish (as per BBC).

One player who came in for criticism from a number of Tottenham fans after the game was Eric Dier, the midfielder making his third consecutive start since Mourinho took charge earlier this month.

Alasdair Gold of Football London gave the 25-year-old a modest rating of six and said that “his passing is still wayward at times”, an observation based on Dier misplacing nine of the 35 passes he made against the Cherries, while Gary Pearson of Hotspur HQ felt that he had a “poor start and finish” to the match.

His 35-pass total was by far the lowest among Tottenham’s midfield, with Tanguy Ndombele recording almost twice as many passes (61).

These Spurs fans on Twitter were left disappointed with Dier’s performance against Bournemouth:
