Tottenham: Fans slam Jose Mourinho’s management of Japhet Tanganga vs Watford - Tottenham

Loads of Spurs fans were unhappy with something Jose Mourinho did on Saturday at Vicarage Road, as the manager opted to play youngster Japhet Tanganga in his third position in as many matches.

After playing in a back three for Tottenham against Liverpool and at right-back in a back four against Middlesbrough, Tanganga was thrown in at left-back on Saturday to face Watford.

Of course, the Hornets’ main strengths come from their flanks, where Gerard Deulofeu and Ismaila Sarr can cause havoc for opposing defenders. That’s exactly what happened too, as Tanganga was booked early on for a misjudged moment against Sarr, and from that moment on the 20 year-old was on the back foot against the speedy winger.

Per Sofascore, Tanganga was dribbled past once, made one error leading to a shot and completed only 25 passes in the match. While it wasn’t a horrific performance by any means given the circumstances, many supporters believe Mourinho hung him out to dry.
