Tottenham fans treated to another positive transfer line ahead of next season

The Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a rather busy summer for Mauricio Pochettino and company, bidding to change their title challenge into a championship parade.

Few would argue that Spurs’ starting XI isn’t amongst the best in the league, though those from Hotspur Way could certainly do with a few astute additions here and there to round out the squad.

With that in mind, reports from the London Evening Standard have sparked interest. They claim the north London side are weighing up a potential move for Ajax defender Joel Veltman this summer.

Having enjoyed previous success when buying from de Godenzonen over the years – with both Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen proving to be wonderful signings – Tottenham’s interest could once again return to the Dutch capital.

The 25-year-old Oranje international is understood to be a target thanks to his versatility. Able to operate in either central defence or at full-back, Ajax’s vice-captain seems like an attractive option for our north London locals.

He’s said to have just a year left on his deal at the Amsterdam ArenA and the report suggests he could be available for around £8m, making it a relatively low-risk deal for Tottenham.

Spurs are believed to have a strong working relationship with Ajax and the punters propping up the bar hope Veltman can follow the likes of Eriksen and Vertonghen to success.
