Spurs fans having breakfast in the Football Transfer Tavern this morning are considering getting a few early pints in to celebrate their club taking a huge step towards the signing of a long term target.
According to the Evening Standard, one of Spurs’ major summer targets, striker Vincent Janssen, has arrived in London today in order to complete his move to White Hart Lane.
The 22-year-old arrived in the capital yesterday, flanked by his agents, and is expected to stay until Tuesday to dot the i’s and cross the t’s on a reported £15m move from Dutch side, AZ Alkmaar.
The Dutch international top scored in the Eredivisie last season, scoring 27 goals in 34 appearances, helping his side clinch a place in the qualifying rounds for the Europa League.
Janssen is expected to be an understudy to last season’s Premier League top scorer, Harry Kane, however the incoming striker seems to have different ideas; he told the Standard: “Harry Kane? People can say what they want but I’m not afraid of anybody.
“He is a great striker but we will see how it goes. We can complement each other, I think I can learn a lot from him.”
Our Landlord here in the bar reckons that Janssen may have a chance of ousting the Englishman, offering Spurs boss Pochettino a pacey and hard working alternative.
Spurs fans, how excited are you about this deal? Do you think he can rival Kane for a spot in staring eleven? Let us know in the comments below…
