Tottenham Hotspur: £20million for Rose is of more value to Spurs than he is to the team

Tottenham Hotspur: £20million for Rose is of more value to Spurs than he is to the team

Juventus are said to be interested in Spurs defender Danny Rose amid speculation about his future with the club (Football Insider).

Maurizio Sarri’s new side face stiff competition if they wish to secure the England international’s signature as French European powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain are also being linked with him.

The 29-year-old was left out of the club’s squad for their Asian tour in order to ‘explore other opportunities’.

He signed for the Lilywhites way back in 2007 and has since made 198 appearances, scoring ten goals and assisting a further 27.

But now in a summer of change for Tottenham, it seems Rose could be the second full-back to exit the north London outfit following Kieran Trippier’s move to Atletico Madrid.

The former Leeds man had a difficult season off the field when he proclaimed that he ‘could not wait to see the back of football’ following racist abuse England players were subjected to while on international duty in Montenegro.

However, on the field, he has played more games than in any other season since joining the north London outfit and was a part of the side which took to the field in Madrid against Liverpool in the Champions League final.

But with that being said, it is also worth pointing out that Ben Davies – the other main contender for the left-back position – made more appearances than the Doncaster-born defender in the last campaign.

Plus, with rumours flying around that Spurs are set to bid for Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon, there is a strong case to be made that the £20million they are reportedly asking for is of more value than the near 30-year-old is to the team.

There is no doubt Rose has been a great servant to the club – his thunderbolt against Arsenal on his Premier League debut will be remembered by many of the Spurs faithful.

But with Davies being an experienced, reliable head and youngster Sessegnon waiting in the wings, it would be good business for Tottenham to let him go.
