Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen is still keen to make a move from the club as he seeks to complete his dream move to Real Madrid.
The Danish midfielder missed out on a move to the Spanish capital during the summer, but according to Spanish media outlet Marca, Eriksen is still hoping to seal a move to Madrid during the January transfer window.
Eriksen is still playing regularly for Spurs but has so far failed to put pen to paper on a new contract, meaning come January he will be free to negotiate a move to wherever he wants across Europe.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has continued to show faith in Eriksen this season, with the attacking midfielder making five appearances already and contributing one goal to the Spurs cause so far this term. Thus far, he leads the way in terms of key passes per game (2, via WhoScored), so his importance to the side is obvious.
Furthermore, the Dane was a key figure for the London outfit last season as he contributed heavily in attacking areas for the club. His eight goals and 12 assists in the Premier League meant he contributed to 20 goals in the top flight, while he added a further two goals and four assists as Spurs reached the Champions League final.
Eriksen has been integral to how Spurs have played in the last few seasons so if they do lose him, there are going to be big shoes left to fill.
The Danish star has contributed so much in terms of goals and assists (50 and 60 respectively with 71 big chances created per the Premier League’e official website) that bringing a player in to suitably replace him will be a tough task for the club, especially if they aren’t going to receive a transfer fee.
However, it does seem the writing is on the wall with this move, and it would be no surprise to see Eriksen in the Real Madrid white next year.
