The Spanish outlet claims Spurs are eyeing up a move for Estupinan, although the report adds Daniel Levy will have a transfer battle on his hands, as La Liga giants Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are monitoring the situation closely. Premier League rivals Manchester United are also considering launching a bid.
After arriving at CA Osasuna from Vicarage Road on a short-term loan, the 22-year-old has put in a string of impressive performances at the back for Jagoba Arrasate’s men, making 26 appearances in the Spanish top flight so far, scoring 1 goal, creating 3 assists, making 2.7 tackles per game, averaging 1.8 interceptions, and completing 1.5 clearances on average (WhoScored).
The Ecuadorian, who is yet to make his debut for the Hornets, could provide some vital competition for Ben Davies if he were to join Spurs. His market value is priced at just over £6m via Transfermarkt but it remains to be seen if Levy can compete with the likes of Barca, Atletico and United in the summer.
Football journalist Ricky Sacks shared the update on social media, tweeting: “Tottenham Hotspur have launched a formal enquiry to Watford over the availability of left-back Pervis Estupiñán. The full-back has already contributed with a goal and also racked up five assists before the season was halted in the La Liga with CA Osasuna.”
Given the responses so far, it is fair to say the club’s transfer link to Estupinan has divided the fan base, with a supporter praising the “excellent” youngster, and another adding he is an “upgrade on Davies.” However, one supporter argued “he’s so bad.”
