Tottenham Hotspur: Darren Bent believes Moussa Sissoko will have a part to play under Jose Mourinho - Tottenham

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent believes that Jose Mourinho will love working with Moussa Sissoko and that the Frenchman will be an important player for him.

Sissoko was a regular at the end of Mauricio Pochettino’s reign. Indeed, he started all 12 Premier League matches under the Argentine this season prior to his departure (Transfermarkt).

The former Newcastle man was left out of Mourinho’s first starting 11 though, with Eric Dier and Harry Winks chosen to play in midfield (Transfermarkt).

However, despite all the talk of Dier being the perfect Mourinho player, Bent believes that Sissoko still has a big part to play under the Portuguese manager.

When asked if Sissoko will be utilised under the Mourinho regime, Bent told Football Insider: “Yeah, Mourinho will love him.

“Mourinho may not take into account his quality, he does have some qualities, his engine, the fact he is a big powerful presence, but yeah he’ll be perfect for Mourinho as Mourinho knows that it must be a luxury to have that type of player, if you have an injury, right-back, midfield, wherever you need Sissoko to play, he’ll play there to the best of his ability.

“He’ll put 100% in, and do a job adequately.

“And I think until Mourinho gets the budget and can bring in the player he wants, Sissoko will be right at the forefront of what he needs, and when you have dependable members of the squad, who are like that, that’s like a new signing itself.”

Whilst he didn’t start in Mourinho’s first game in charge, there is no doubt that Sissoko still has a part to play at Tottenham.

His power and energy make him a different type of player to Winks and Dier and those attributes will be needed in certain matches.

Added to that, he is also a versatile player who can not only play in central midfield, but is also capable of filling in at right-back or even as a right midfielder as he has done already this term (Transfermarkt).

With the busy Christmas period on the horizon, Spurs will need to fully utilise their squad, so expect the French international to feature plenty of times over the next few months.
