Jose Mourinho suffered his first defeat as manager of Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, going down 2-1 to his former club Manchester United at Old Trafford (BBC Sport).
United took an early lead through Marcus Rashford before Dele Alli netted just before half-time to level things up.
Would Pochettino ruin his Tottenham legacy by moving to Arsenal?
However, Spurs midfielder Moussa Sissoko gave away a penalty early in the second period which Rashford converted, a goal which ultimately sealed three points for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men.
After the game, Mourinho carried out his media duties and told the press that he wasn’t happy that his side had started poorly, claiming that for the first 30 minutes United had been “much better” than his team (via @beINSPORTS_EN).
The Portuguese didn’t try to hide anything in his interview and acknowledged the problems that the team currently have.
Plenty of Spurs fans were happy with Mourinho’s post-match comments, suggesting that it was refreshing to see a manager be so honest and pick out the faults in the performance rather than trying to just be positive.
Here is what some had to say on Twitter…
He clearly wanted to say something along the lines of “Sissoko and Aurier were braindead to concede that penalty”… because we were all thinking it.
At least José hasn’t praised the performance or talked in riddles. Came out and said straight, we were poor, they were better.

The reactive comment is spot on. It’s what we’ve been for the last year . Never stamp our authority on games any more. The Ajax win was born out of a reactive gamble.

He’s nailed it with the proactive/reactive anaylsis and that’s encouraging. It’s fairly damning really, because he’s saying they’re not reading the game, not seeing things. He must also be able to see there’s no real leader at the back. #THFC #COYS

I like this. Honest. Direct. We lost two goals due to individual mistakes (Aurier, Sanchez, & Gazzaniga for the 1st, Sissoko the 2nd) but we lost the match due to collective inertia. Error not replacing Trippier. Aurier & KWP not good enough & need replacement for Rose too.

It’s refreshing to see tbh. He knows what needs to be done and doesn’t only mention good bits. Sissoko dropped for weekend?

Good to hear rather then we deserved to win
