Tottenham appointing a new manager in Jose Mourinho doesn’t mean they’ll have a fresh start on the injury front, with as many as five squad members in danger of missing his first game in charge. Erik Lamela and Hugo Lloris are still out injured, but Michel Vorm will be joining them while Tanguy Ndombele and Jan Vertonghen could be, too.
The club, via a tweet, said the latter two are “beginning reintegration into training and will be assessed ahead of Saturday’s game”. Spurs face West Ham away in the day’s early kick-off and their new manager will be hoping to get off to a winning start. Ndombele has started just seven and Vertonghen six of the 12 games played in the Premier League so far, so they’ll want to get fit and prove their worth too.
Spurs fans were predictably annoyed at the injury concerns given that they’re hoping this weekend will see a turnaround in form. They replied to the tweet to express just how annoyed they are that their luck doesn’t seem to be changing on the medical table, at least.

I thought we were told that NDombele’s groin injury was nothing and we didn’t need to withdraw him from the internationals?

Ndombele was on the bench for France… why was he even there if not fit?
