Tottenham Hotspur: Many fans annoyed at reports Toby Alderweireld likely to sign new deal

Tottenham have been facing ongoing contract issues with Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld for a while now, but the latter may have been delighted after the appointment of Jose Mourinho as manager.
Football.london says Mourinho is a huge fan of the Belgian and wants the club to offer him a new contract.
The report suggests the manager wants clarity on the player’s situation at the club, and that there’s a growing belief a deal can be reached with at least one of the two aforementioned defenders. Alderweireld is 30 years old and has had a disappointing start to the season, with WhoScored rating him just 6.79/10 in the league, but, with Mourinho attempting to buy him when he was Manchester United manager, he could boost his confidence.
However, when Tottenham correspondent for Football.london Alasdair Gold posted a link to the news to Twitter, many fans didn’t react favourably.
He wrote: “Signing up Toby Alderweireld to a new deal, given his and Mourinho’s mutual affection, would seem to be the best decision for both parties. Bigger wages for the player and saves the club money they’d only spend in trying to bring in a replacement.”
Many supporters replied to show that’s the opposite of what they want.

To be honest, I don’t think his defensive displays are worthy of a new improved contract.

Am I the only one who thinks Toby’s legs have gone? I feel he has lost a couple of yards of pace and gets turned too easily. Brighton was perfect example, He got roasted countless times.
