Tottenham Hotspur: Fans buzz over Toby Alderweireld’s comments about Ajax game

Toby Alderweireld has shared his opinion on Tottenham Hotspur’s famous victory over Ajax on the one-year anniversary of Spurs’ famous win over the Amsterdam club in the Champions League.
Alderweireld posted a clip of an interview with commentator Clive Tyldesley on social media, talking about the “incredible night” in the Dutch capital.
The defender tweeted: “What a moment! Great to reflect on that incredible night in Amsterdam with @CliveTyldesley which is exactly 1 year ago today. Where were you watching from Spurs fans?”
Lucas Moura scored a sensational last-minute winner to stun the Johan Cruyff Arena and round off a thrilling comeback in the semi-final. Entering the game on a 1-0 deficit, fans may have been expecting the worst when Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt headed home. Chelsea-bound Hakim Ziyech doubled the lead before Mauricio Pochettino’s side started to fight back at the start of the second half. Moura bagged two goals in quick succession but had to wait until the dying moments of the game to complete one of the most remarkable moments in European football (BBC Sport).
Do you think Spurs' victory over Ajax is the greatest night in Champions League history?
Yes
No
The Brazilian found the net from 16 yards out to ensure the Lilywhites reached the final on away goals. The North London club sadly went on to lose to Premier League rivals Liverpool in the decider in Madrid.
Alderweireld received plenty of praise from fans and pundits alike for his impressive defensive shifts. After arriving at White Hart Lane from Atletico Madrid (via a loan spell at Southampton) in 2015, the Belgian international established himself as a favourite under Pochettino, going on to make 172 appearances for the Argentine.
Unsurprisingly, many Spurs supporters buzzed over the veteran’s comments about the “emotional rollercoaster” as one fan dubbed the scenes “incredible” and another added that the night was “unreal.”
