He may have got his name on the scoresheet, but some Tottenham Hotspur fans weren’t too impressed with the performance of Son Heung-min in their 2-1 victory against Norwich City on Wednesday evening.
The South Korean netted what was ultimately the winning goal for Spurs on the night after Teemu Pukki had cancelled out Dele Alli’s opener (BBC Sport), but some supporters were critical of his overall performance. Indeed, when you look at his statistics from the game, it is easy to see why.
Alarmingly, none of his three attempted dribbles were successful, three of his four efforts at goal were off target, he missed one big chance in the game and none of his five attempted crosses were successful. Added to that he also lost possession on 18 occasions and he was dribbled past three times (SofaScore).
In truth, Son hasn’t been at his best for a couple of months now. His goal against the Canaries was his first since the epic solo effort he scored against Burnley on 7th December (Sky Sports), meaning he went five matches in all competitions without netting (Transfermarkt).
Whilst he did score the winner in their latest game, several Spurs fans were still not too impressed with his performance with some suggesting that he is being too selfish at the moment and shooting when he should pass. Here is what some had to say on Twitter…
Son is very, very frustrating these days.

I saw Mane the other day and loved the way he moves the ball around. Son will always go for the glory. He passes only when he can’t go ahead with the ball. He needs to release the ball sooner

Far too selfish at the moment.
